- My sister and I told our Bible study group (who attend other churches) about the gift of giving that started with the money from The Chapel and they donated money also. With what we added and their donations we were able to give food and paper products to 2 families in need.
- A co-worker who attends The Chapel and I bought a $100 gift card for Kroger and took it to the pharmacy and donated it for elderly that could not purchase all their medications.
-I added $40 to the $10 and bought a gift card at Kroger's. I gave it to a single mom who has had a very serious illness, a brain bleed, last year and is on disability now. She does not have any extra money for Christmas. She was so thankful to receive the gift card. I hope to be able to do more for her.
-I work in a school cafeteria and there is a student who recently lost his mother and now lives with his grandmother. He was having problems paying for lunch and was not eating and I used the $10 to put towards his lunches until his grandmother was able to file the proper paperwork to have him approved for the free lunch program.
-My wife and I wanted to use the money to help someone with a medical prescription at a pharmacy. While we were shopping at Kroger my wife saw an elderly woman drop off her prescription. We inquired at the counter and paid her bill. We can only imagine her reaction because we had left the store before she returned — Just the way we wanted it.
-We were able to multiply our gift by 70 = $700 and share it with those in need at the homeless shelter, missions and “spontaneous” needs revealed by God to us.
-A local woman lost her husband a couple of weeks ago at the age of 30 leaving behind her and 3 small children. I had been praying for a way to make this $10 gift go so much further and really help someone in need. This woman’s brother is a teammate of my son and so I started thinking of a way to use this situation to raise more money for the family. Friday evening at the basketball game we had all the money from the 3 point shot at half time to this family — raising almost $600 for them. This $10 gift was part of that. Thank you!
-Being a young teen mom myself, I immediately knew that I would like to use the $10 The Chapel gave us toward the Heartbeat Pregnancy Center of Sandusky. I used my ability to sew to make “cuddle wraps” for the newborns of Heartbeat. I purchased fleece with the $10 and created a variety of wraps. I knew when I was a young mother I would have loved the help and support Heartbeat of Sandusky gives to young women in all areas. I only hope that my small contribution helps some lovely young women.
-We feel Christmas is for children and our hearts go out to the ones unable to celebrate Christmas to the fullest due to illness. So we sent the $10 and added a zero and forwarded it to St. Jude’s Hospital to help the children, along with a story of how it started at The Chapel
-We used the $10 to give gift bags to Victory Kitchen for children. We added $20 of our own and were able to make 15 bags.
-On Dec. 16 we put $100 dollars with the $10 and gave it to the Sandusky Care & Share. We felt that they could put it to good use in helping people who are in need and struggling in this economy.
-We decided to give our contribution to a single mom who has three little girls and temporary custody of her sisters two little ones. She has worked hard this past year to get her life headed in the right direction. As we were making the delivery of the gift, she was just leaving to have a major dental procedure, obviously, she was very grateful! |
